Propecia is used to treat different types of male pattern baldness. It increases hair growth, slows down hair loss and improves hair growth.

You may choose to take Propecia once a day with a meal or without one.
Despite your best attempts at remembering, if you still miss out on a dose, then take it as soon as you remember about it. But keep in mind that you will have to adjust your next dose by spacing it out by 4 to 5 hours. If this is not possible, then the best thing to do would be to skip the missed dose and continue with your normal dosage schedule.
Never try to compensate for the missed dose by taking a double dose together. It may cause adverse effects.
Store Propecia at room temperature. Always keep it in a cool dark place that is not directly exposed to moisture.
You should be cautious when using Propecia if you have liver problems. You should not drive or handle heavy machinery until you know your reaction to the drug.
Doctors advise against using Propecia if you are allergic to any ingredient in it or to a similar medicine called dutasteride (Avodart).
Finasteride is not to be used by women or children. It can be absorbed through the skin.

If you are expecting a child or are planning to have a child in the near future, then you should not handle Propecia tablets in any way as it may cause birth defects. If a pregnant woman comes in contact with this medicine through broken or crushed tablet, then the area of contact should be immediately washed with soap and water.
Most medications have some kind of side effects associated with them. The commonest of these side effects are temporary and mild and fade away without any special attention.
These include feeling like you might pass out; swelling in your hands or feet; pain in the testicles; impotence, loss of interest in sex, or trouble having an orgasm; abnormal ejaculation; swelling or tenderness in your breasts; dizziness, weakness; headache; runny nose; or skin rash.
However, in some cases, these mild side effects may persist or become bothersome. In such cases, seek medical attention.
Also, in some rare cases, it may lead to severe side effects like allergies whose symptoms may be hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Consult your doctor immediately if you notice any breast lumps, pain, nipple discharge, or other breast changes as they may be signs of male breast cancer.
Seek medical attention if you notice any of these side effects.
